Class Bas Relief Sculpture and Tile Making
Date February 15th-17th 2008

In this intensive workshop, students will explore the structural possibilities of working in clay large scale to build figurative sculpture individually or as group compositions. Elements can be assembled for a collective sculpture located in the landscape, smaller sculptures made separately as individual work, or a combination of both. The history and tradition of terracotta will be inclded as a part of the technical description for firing.

Class Plein Air Oil Painting

Explore the use of color to create excitement in your paintings. I will demonstrate the processes I use to produce prize winning art, going beyond the basics of vale shape, design and color. You will see a demonstration and painting each day, both in the studio and out doors.

Jane Angelhart
Class Water Color Portrait Painting
Date March 10th-14th 2008

Jane will teach technique and control, with an emphasis on the nature and behavior of water. During this week-long workshop, students will paint four watercolor portraits. Jane will start the class with a demonstration of a portrait, and will then assist students while they paint their own versions of the face that Jane painted in the demo.

Ryan McKerley
Class Ceramics, Hand bulit, and Raku Firing
Date March 28th-30th 2008

In this workshop, students will focus on making functional and sculptural vessels using a variety of hand building techniques and porcelain and raku clay. Textures, drawn and carved images, slips, underglazes and wax will be employed to create visually interesting surfaces. Some pots will be raku fired at the end of the workshop and the porcelain vessels will be bisque-fired. Ryan McKerley makes contemporary soda and salt-fired functional pottery with a focus on surface treatment.

Judy Crowe
Class Still Life Oil Painting
Date April 12th-10th, 2008

This workshop will focus on the fundamentals of fine art oil painting: value, composition, design, drawing, color theory and edges. Learning to see as an artists sees will be the goal. Judy will assist each student to move forward confidently with their painting skills as a beginner or intermediate student. This class will consist of demonstrations, lecture and plenty of painting time for each student. The class will paint alla prima, still life from live settings, indoor and outdoors as weather permits.

Class Oil Painting
Date June 9th-12th 2008

The class will work in the studio or plein air, translating what is seen as the painting process, color and brush stroke building expressive compositions. Students will learn to draw using color and shape, line and movement, extending the technical limitations of the oil paint medium, working dynamically from small to large scale. Students at all levels.
