Artist Bio |
John Laurence Karasek has been a dedicated artist since starting art school when he was 15. He brings this considerable knowledge and experience to his teaching, sharing his passion for art with his students who discover the meaning of art for themselves by creating it. The journey is often exciting and rewarding sometimes unexpected but always interesting. Recently returned to the US from a year living and working in Europe, he is represented by Art van der Brugge, Zug Switzerland. The founder and inspiration of the Art School Fredericksburg, JL Karasek is an internationally known artist. His recent paintings are about his life in Switzerland, what he saw everyday on his way to his studio, especially observations of the lake and the reflections of the sky and water. As an art student in London, JL worked closely with his teachers in the atelier studio at the Royal Academy of Art and brings this experience to the Art School Fredericksburg. He studied painting and drawing and was awarded the distinguished Leverhumlme Traveling Scholarship. During his university teaching career in England, New Zealand and the USA, he received many honors awards and commissions. His work can be seen in private and public collections internationally.
