A Place to Discover

The Hill Country landscape around Fredericksburg is surprisingly varied, pure pleasure for the plein air painter. The history of the pioneer settlement is rooted in this landscape and can be seen today in the houses, villages and farms built by the the early immigrants from Europe. Their lives were shaped by the landscape, climate and always by the ever present sense of vast space.

The Art Academy Fredericksburg offers a regular schedule of master classes with nationally and internationally known artists. We also offer by arrangement, private art classes, portfolio development for university application and art classes for children. Registration is open to everyone who wants to learn about art by finding and expressing personal creativity. Students receive an uncompromising quality of instruction

We guarantee the best possible workshop experience. "It was by far one of the best workshops I have ever attended". - Claire Vining, Houston (Ryan Mckerley, ceramics workshop, September 2007). Students learn by immersion in the creative process, often working side by side with the artist from the same subject. This is the atelier tradition of the European academy master class. Distinguished artists come to the Art Academy Fredericksburg and its inspiring natural environment to make their art and to work with a small number of aspiring artists enthusiastic about the association and its possibilities

The Art Academy Fredericksburg is an exclusive retreat in the Hill Country. It provides a thriving art scene and an inspirational atmosphere with a focus on making art. There are some beautiful landscape painting locations around Fredericksburg and the Art Academy itself is situated on 25 acres of trees, native grasses and nature trails, with Barons Creek flowing through the property.

The Art Academy Fredericksburg is located on the Barons Creekside resort property, a unique opportunity to focus on making art in a natural parkland landscape near the historic city of Fredericksburg, Texas
